This has been a big week for Grace…she had her eighth grade graduation and her confirmation. After two years of attending confirmation classes every Wednesday evening, serving as an acolyte on Sunday mornings, many service projects, and sharing her faith statement in front of her class, it was time for a celebration!
When I asked her what she wanted for her confirmation celebration, she said PURPLE! So purple it was…lots of it!
I started by creating this “wall of flowers” as a backdrop for the table.
I added these big fringe garlands (click here to see how I created these for a birthday party) in shades of lavender and purple on either side of the “flower wall.” I painted a wood G in silver metallic to hang with the fringe garlands.
The dessert table consisted of mini tea cakes (vanilla, lemon, and chocolate), cross-shaped cutout cookies (love how the G on the cookies played off the silver G in the decorations), personalized M&Ms, mints, and purple rock candy sticks…sweet treats for every taste. Also included on the table was a framed picture of Grace from her baptism. A wonderful memory that doesn’t seem that long ago!
It was a wonderful day in our family as we celebrated her choice to reaffirm her baptism. And I think I delivered on her request for a purple celebration!
Lovely! And purple is my favorite color. Congratulations to Grace!
Thanks! I didn’t know you liked purple…just learned something new about you!
Just lovely!!
Thank you! It was a special day indeed!
Beth, once again – WOW! When can we hire you? I can be your worker bee! Grace looks so happy!
Let’s plan a party together, Vanessa! We would have LOTS of fun!
