Happy National S’mores Day! This summertime treat is so simple to make, and who doesn’t love roasted marshmallows and chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker! In fact, I think that is how the name came to be…it always leaves you wanting “some more.”
It is unclear as to the origin of the s’more, but the first published recipe dates back to the early 1920’s when it was called a “Graham Cracker Sandwich.” It was (and still is) quite popular among the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Who doesn’t remember sitting around a scout campfire and roasting marshmallows with the anticipation of that gooey chocolate treat!
We love s’more making so much that our family hosted a S’MORE PARTY last summer.
Such a fun and simple way to get some friends and neighbors together! All you need are three basic ingredients…graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate…and perhaps some beverages to wash it all down. Of course, we had fun adding some variations to our s’more buffet table!
Who wouldn’t enjoy some flavored marshmallows…cinnamon, banana, strawberry-lemonade, or blueberry!
How about some choices of chocolate…peanut butter cups, fudge stripe cookies, Hershey’s chocolate bars!
Light up the fire pit and we are ready to create our own version of the tasty s’more treat…
S’MORES…they always leave you wanting “some more.”

My kids named our little 6 lb. Yorkie Smore. She is brown on bottom, black on top and had a little patch of white on her head that she unfortunately out grew.

She sounds adorable, and what a perfect name for her!
