Spring is here and all those flowers are blooming around the yard! Earlier this week, I shared a DIY flowerpot project that would make a great Mother’s Day gift (click here for the directions). Here is another gift idea for mom involving flowers…
For this project, you will need…
- large mason jar
- acrylic paint (any color, I used pink)
- paintbrush
- large rectangular vinyl sticker
- clear plastic cup
- tape
- picture
First, place the vinyl sticker in the middle of the mason jar.
Then, paint the outside of the jar. It will take a few coats to cover it. Turn it over and paint the bottom of the jar, also.
Remove the sticker before the paint dries, or it might be difficult to take it off.
This part is optional, but I liked the lettering on the mason jar and I thought the paint covered it. I used a butter knife to scratch off the paint where the words were…giving it a distressed look.
Choose a picture that will fit in the unpainted space on the jar. Put it inside the jar, and secure it in place with tape.
Place a clear plastic cup inside the jar and fill it with water. This is very important, as you will ruin your picture if you fill the mason jar with water. You may need to try out different sized cups to find one that fits.
Finally, put a beautiful bouquet in the cup and your gift is ready for mom!
What a great surprise for mom (or grandma), and she could easily change out the picture from time to time!
Happy Mother’s Day!
