I’m so ready for spring! Not that we’ve had a horrible winter here in northwest Ohio…in fact, it’s been fairly mild with very little snow and higher than average temperatures. However, there’s something about the spring season that recharges and invigorates me. That invigoration usually leads me to a house project…
I have a few rooms in our home that I would like to refresh…the first one being our living room. When we purchased the tan sofas a few years ago, my thought was that I could change out different accessory pieces from time to time. That way the room would always stay fresh and updated with seasonal or trendy colors.
Since the main colors of my living room are tan and blue, this Instagram post caught my attention recently. I loved the pop of bright pink mixed with the other two colors…this picture became my inspiration for refreshing our living room!
I started by looking for new throw pillows for the sofas. Not as easy as you might think…I had to really look to find the right shade of pink. With three girls in the house, my husband is more than tired of the color pink. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a pastel pink. I was thrilled when I found these oversized patterned pillows, and I paired them with cream-colored fur pillows and blue print pillows.
Grace said it was going to be too many pillows on the sofas. Well, I think I’ve taught my husband well over the years…his response was “you can never have too many throw pillows.” I think he was just trying to make me happy!
You may have already spotted another pop of pink that I added to the room…the floral arrangement on the coffee table. I purchased this wood container before the holidays, and I’ve used it for so many displays already. I love the crisp look of the pink peonies against the white wood!
And what’s a room without some blankets and throws! I just love this pink herringbone-print throw with the pompom trim! Makes me want to curl up with a book…
One other addition to the room is the bright pink storage ottoman. It is a great versatile piece…I can store board games inside it and it provides extra seating, if necessary.
I just love how it all came together! The pops of pink give it new energy for spring. With these small changes, I feel like it’s a brand new room!
Now it’s time for me to think about those other house projects…
