It’s almost December, and I’ve been decking the halls, walls, AND our front door for the past week. I just love Christmastime! I wish I could add white lights and ribbon to everything…it just makes everything look so festive! One of my favorite things to do is have my cup of tea in the morning by the tree just before the sun comes up…I love how the lights reflect off the wood floors. So peaceful and magical…
I decorated our front porch and door last week. Yep, last week when it was 30-some degrees. Yesterday, it was 66 degrees…who would have thought we’d have 60 degree weather at the end of November. If I had know, believe me…I would have waited. My hands were so cold that I had to keep going inside to warm up.
Even though it was cold and it took me a bit longer to do, I’m loving how it turned out! I used the same garland and decor as last year, but I wanted to change it up a bit.
So I decked out the door and porch in buffalo plaid by adding a new bow to the wreath and adding some narrow buffalo plaid ribbon to the garland around the door.
I used the wide ribbon to tie bows around the urns, which were filled with greenery and berry picks. And those large pinecones from last year…my FAVORITE! Since our house sits up on a hill, the oversized pinecones are just perfect…they can actually be seen from the street.
Remember the bench I moved from our backyard to the front porch earlier this fall…I decided to keep it there. It just seemed so cozy. So I replaced the pillows and pumpkins with tin buckets full of pine swags, berries, and a simple Merry Christmas sign.
I continued the buffalo plaid decor in the portico area between our two front doors. These were actually props that we used when we took our family Christmas card pictures (which I’ll be sharing in a post next week), and I decided to display them on our white shelves. I love how festive they look…and it’s soooo easy to wrap up some boxes with what else—buffalo plaid paper!
As much as I’m loving buffalo plaid this year, I promise you that I didn’t decorate my entire house in it…although I thought about it!
