My family LOVES popcorn! I think they associate it with watching movies…so every time we “pop” in a movie to watch on the weekend, I “pop” some popcorn.
They are loving the popcorn that I’ve been making lately, so I thought I’d share the simple recipe and directions to make your own.
You just need three ingredients…
- popcorn kernels
- coconut oil
- garlic salt
First, scoop a large amount coconut oil and place it on the bottom of a large stockpot. I don’t really measure…it should cover the entire bottom of the pot at about a 1/4 inch thickness when melted.
Heat the coconut oil over high heat. Once completely melted, pour in the popcorn. Again I don’t measure…just add enough to cover the entire bottom of the pot so that the kernels are covered in the oil.
Place the lid on top and wait for the kernels to begin popping, which takes 2-3 minutes. Once they begin popping, give the pot a good shake to make sure all the kernels are covered in the oil.
When the popping slows to just a few, turn off the heat and let the pot sit for a moment.
Remove the lid and pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Finally, sprinkle some garlic salt on the popcorn.
And that’s it! It’s ready to serve…
It has such a great flavor and it isn’t greasy at all. Hope you find it as delicious as my family does!
