Spring is here…I don’t know about you, but I always have the urge to throw open the windows to let the fresh air in and begin cleaning! I love having that “clean feeling” all through the house. It takes time and it isn’t easy, but it is sooo worth it to start off this new season of growth with a clean home.
I’m always on the look for good cleaning and organizing tips, so I asked my friends the following question…
“What is your best advice for spring cleaning?”
I’m sharing their tips and advice below to hopefully help and motivate you.

When cleaning out closets/cupboards, we follow these rules of thumb:
- Have we worn or used it in a year?
- Do we see ourselves wearing or using it in a year?
- If not, is why are we holding on to it?
We sort any items we are purging into three piles:
- Donate
- Consign (my girls get to keep the money earned from consigning any of their items)
- Pass down to cousins/friends in smaller sizes

My “spring cleaning” is usually dragged out all year long … I just can’t seem to get it all done in one swoop and then I tend to create cleaning projects throughout the year. Depending on what item I am searching for determines the closet or area that FINALLY gets decluttered! But, the best feeling of all is when I clean my back porch and patio after all of the pollen. I would have to say that is the most consistent spring cleaning project that I do! As far as advice, unfortunately, I have none, but I will put in a good plug for the Roomba … my favorite cleaning accessory that can be used all year! Definitely worth it!
Thank you to my friends for sharing their spring cleaning advice for this month’s “tea talk!”
I’ve been working on lots of home projects these past few months, and I’m excited to share some of those with you. Check back later this week to see the organizational project I did in my kitchen…
