S’mores have become a summertime staple at our house ever since we had a firepit built in our backyard a few years ago. Such a simple treat…graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate! Add in the fun of roasting a marshmallow over an open fire, and the fun pursues.
Last summer we hosted a S’mores Party to celebrate the Fourth of July. It was such a fun evening that I wanted to share the details…this would be such a simple idea for summer entertaining.
Of course with it being July 4th, the color scheme was easy…red, white and blue. I found some simple decor at the Target Dollar Spot area…napkins, paper straws, garlands, banners, paper fans, table decor, and patriotic tin containers filled with glow bracelets and sparklers.
Instead of the typical crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate…I offered a fun variety of those s’mores staples. To give the guests an idea of what ingredients might taste good together, I hung an old window from a tree just near my serving table. On each windowpane, there were suggestions for some tasty s’mores combinations. It was fun to see people be adventurous with their tastebuds!
Now are you ready to see all the chocolate and marshmallows?!? I offered the following to the guests for them to create their s’mores…
CHOCOLATE
- milk chocolate bars
- cookies and cream bars
- peanut butter cups
- milk chocolate caramel squares
- peppermint patties
MARSHMALLOWS
- banana
- strawberry
- salted caramel
- mint
- espresso
- regular
CRACKERS
- graham crackers
- ritz crackers
- oreo cookies
- fudge striped cookies
Now those s’mores might make one thirsty…so I set up a drink station near our gazebo. I kept it simple with water, soda, beer, and wine.
And don’t forget the sticky finger station to take care of any messes!
It was such a fun evening to host…it almost makes me wish we were having another S’mores Party this year!
Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
