I’ve been a little MIA this month. If you’re following me on Instagram, I shared that I had a “very involved” hysterectomy a few weeks ago. I have to be honest…it really threw me off my routine. I know my doctor tried to prepare me for this L O N G eight-week recovery, but I didn’t expect to feel the way I have. My husband assures me that I will be back to normal before I know it…but in the meantime, I really want to decorate for fall (and I’m fairly certain that carrying pumpkins up my front steps goes against my doctor’s orders of “no lifting”).
I did tackle a small organizational project before surgery, and I’m sharing it today…
Rolling Cart Organization
I purchased THIS ROLLING CART several months ago, and put it in our kitchen. It’s purpose was to store frequently used craft supplies…so that I wouldn’t need to run downstairs to my craft room every time I needed twine, paint brushes, or glue. Call me lazy, but I thought it was a good idea! Until it began to look like this…
It looked like an explosion! And it just became a catch-all for things that I didn’t properly put away. Spy the pillar candles? Not sure how they ended up on the cart.
I knew I needed to get this mess under control. I found THESE CONTAINERS AND LIDS that I thought would be perfect for “containing” (see what I did there) the mess. So I took everything off the cart and started to organize it…
I only kept the craft items that I use the most to put in the containers. Everything else went back to their intended places. Then, I grouped like items together in the containers and labeled them…this helps me know which container has the various items in it.
It looks so much better! Don’t you agree? And by having a place for each item, I’m better at putting things back where they belong. So not only does it look better, it is a more functional area.
Now if I could just figure out how to get those fall decorations up…
