Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! Long ago (at the beginning of the school year in late August…well, I guess it wasn’t really that long ago), I signed up to provide the food and drinks for my youngest daughter’s classroom valentine party. I’m not sure why, but I also volunteered for the valentine party food and drinks last year! So when I told Claire that I needed to start thinking of what I was going to serve, she reminded me how much her classmates LOVED the valentine floats I made last year!
She even asked if I would make them again this year, so I figured “why not…..” They are so simple to make with just a few ingredients, but yet the kids thought they were pretty special!
All you need to make them is strawberry soda, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream (the spray kind). I usually throw some fun sprinkles on top, so add that to your shopping list, as well.
Just like with any other float, place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of the cup. Then pour the strawberry soda over the ice cream…did I mention that my daughter does NOT like carbonated beverages, but somehow she still loves this drink!
Then just spray some whipped cream on the top, add some sprinkles and a straw, and ENJOY!
Did I mention a spoon? Yep, spoons are helpful for scooping out the extra ice cream at the bottom of the cup once the soda is gone!! Serve with a spoon!
Now that I have decided to serve these valentine floats at Claire’s party once again this year (I hope none of the kids who were also in her class last year mind the repeat), I need to start working on the food…
