Strawberry picking season is here! We love strawberries at our house…it is the ONE berry that all five of us eat! So sweet and juicy, especially when they are just picked.
Picking our own strawberries brings back memories of my childhood. My grandparents had a small berry patch, and we would spend countless June mornings there helping my mom pick berries. Then it was back to our house to make freezer jam, pies, shortcake, bread…just about anything with strawberries!
Once my children were old enough, I wanted to take them berry picking. We have found wonderful berry farms everywhere we have lived. For the past several years, we have driven about 30 minutes from our house to a berry farm in Michigan.
It is a short harvest season in the Ohio/ Michigan area, so we had to go picking…
After filling two boxes, we decided we had enough. Time to weigh and pay!
Then it was time to bake! Check back next week to see what we did with the 20 plus pounds of strawberries that we picked, including some recipes…
