Today is National Ice Cream Day! How are you going to celebrate…a single scoop of vanilla in a dish with sprinkles, a double scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone, or a strawberry milkshake? There are so many ways to indulge with that favorite summertime treat!
Or you could make your own ice cream with this super simple recipe…
You will need…
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup toppings/ mix-ins (I used crushed graham crackers and blueberries)
First, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks have formed (about 5 minutes).
Then stir in the sweetened condensed milk.
Mix in the graham crackers and blueberries.
Pour the mixture in a 9×9 pan, and place it in the freezer until firm.
Remove and allow to soften before scooping and serving.
There are so many variations to this recipe, depending on what is added to the cream mixture.
If you would rather have chocolate in your ice cream, here’s another idea…use 1 cup of crushed Reece Pieces and peanut butter cups in place of the berries and crackers.
Place them in a large ziplock bag, and use a rolling pin to smash them.
Stir into the cream mixture and freeze.
Whether you decide to make your own or visit the ice cream parlor, I hope you enjoy some of the cold, creamy treat today!
