“these are terrible quotes…”

Who knows those Safe Auto Insurance Company commercials?  You know the ones…the characters banter back and forth telling terrible quotes and then the announcer says “these are terrible quotes, but Safe Auto can get you a good quote in 3 minutes.”

I don’t know why but that commercial always brings to mind my felt letter board.

Maybe because I’m always looking for and thinking of fun, creative, and inspirational quotes for my felt letter board.  Not terrible quotes, but good ones!

As you can see, I enjoy styling my felt letter boards with quotes appropriate to the season or current events.  I might even be a bit obsessed with them.  Come on…they are pretty cute!  I use mine to decorate with at parties and just around our house.

Today I’m sharing some of my tips for using a felt letter board…

First, you need a felt letter board.  I purchased mine from HERE.  Be sure to read my entire post today because Felt Like Sharing is offering a special discount to my readers this week.

Now that you have your board, you will need some good quotes.  Remember the commercial…not terrible ones!  I’m not always that witty or inspiring, so I often check Pinterest for ideas.  I even have a Felt Letter Board Quote Pinterest board when I need inspiration…you can see it HERE.  Music lyrics and movie/ TV dialogue often provide good quotes, as well.

I keep all my letters and symbols organized in a plastic craft storage box with individual compartments.  This saves sooo much time when I’m looking for certain letters.

Now for actually placing those letters on the board…

I marked the center of the board on the back, both vertically and horizontally.  Then, I wrap two pieces of string around the board so that I know where the center is, as I’m laying out my letters.  I don’t push the letters into place until I’m happy with how it looks.

And the really great thing is that if you don’t like how it looks, you can start over!
